Great Smokey Mountains - July 20, 2006

What a magnificent day for a little drive through the countryside somewhere in the USA. What is so neat is that it just happened to be in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. I left Pigeon Forge about 9:00 this morning and took my time driving. By the end of the day at 4:30 when I arrived at Chickamunga Battlefield just south of Chattanooga, TN, I had been totally impressed with the Tennessee and North Carolina landscape. I made sure that if I saw something I liked, I would stop or turn around to capture it on camera. I took over 160 pictures today and could have taken 500 but I would still be in the heart of the Smokey Mts.

I have attempted to capture the day in 38 pictures. It is almost impossible to identify each one, but the flow goes from leaving Pigeon Forge to arrival at Ocoee, TN. That is where the beautiful white water rafting and lake pictures were taken. That is about 70 miles from Chattanooga. I tried to put fewer pictures on but was unable to leave any of them out. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed seeing them in person. Tomorrow I will view the Chickamunga Battlefield and then drive to Shiloh Battlefield, east of Memphis, TN. Until then.....
